Honor of Kings, one of the world’s most-played mobile games, is entering a phased global release. While Level Infinite has been slowly announcing that the game will be coming to different regions, one country that the company hasn’t commented on is India. That changed today as finally, the developers announced Honor of Kings India, scheduled to release in June.
Clash of Titans is set to become Honor of Kings India
Back in 2021, a mysterious game resembling Arena of Valor popped up in application stores for Indian users. Titled Clash of Titans, the game looked exactly like Arena of Valor but was instead published by Actoz SG. This move came after Arena of Valor was banned by India’s ministry of electronics for alleged data privacy concerns.
A quick background check into Actoz SG, apparently a game publisher based in Singapore, revealed that the company’s controlling stake was owned by China-based Shengqu Games. Furthermore, Shengqu Games had recently signed an agreement with Tencent to publish the latter’s games. This all but confirmed speculation that Clash of Titans was an Indian version of Arena of Valor, but was published by a Singaporean company to quelch the Indian government’s concerns over data privacy.
However, with limited marketing Clash of Titans never really caught on. Now, it seems that the situation is set to change. The previous Instagram account for the game has been renamed to “hokindia.” The first post after this change indicates that it will be released in June 2024.
“Dear challengers, we’re excited to announce that we’re pivoting to Honor of Kings India. Stay tuned for all upcoming news, updates, and Esports invitationals right here on this channel. While we eagerly await the global release in June, we’ll be sharing all game-related info aligned with HOK Global and HOK South Asia,” the Instagram post reads.
It’s currently unclear whether Honor of Kings will be released as a separate game for India or will be connected to the global version. As of writing, Clash of Titans is still available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store for download.
When will Honor of Kings be released in India?
Currently, Level Infinite has released Honor of Kings in the Middle East, North Africa, Turkey, Eastern Europe, and South Asia (except India). It will be coming to other regions in a phased manner. The official Instagram post by @hokindia, however, says that the game will be coming globally in June 2024.
Furthermore, the Instagram post reveals that the channel will also unveil details about esports. Thus, confirming intentions to join the game with the $15 million global esports roadmap.
