IEM Chengdu 2024 is almost upon us, marking Tier 1 Counter-Strike’s return to China for the first time in years. To celebrate, we’re taking a look at the 16 teams attending the event, to put together our ultimate power rankings for the tournament ahead!

IEM Chengdu 2024 favorites
The favorite in the IEM Chengdu 2024 power rankings is pretty simple. All being well, FaZe Clan should come out on top here handily. They’ve been to the Grand Final of every single CS2 tournament they have attended, and while victories have been difficult to come by of late, the inconsistency of the other teams here means they take first place by a long shot.
Elsewhere, keep an eye on MOUZ. This roster hasn’t won a tournament since adding Brollan, but his strong individual form means they’re knocking on the door of glory. They wilted on the big stage at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024. However, the smaller stakes of IEM Chengdu 2024 could see them take home the trophy.
Our final team to watch is Heroic. They’ve shown such strong peaks of late, but consistency has held them back from really challenging the top teams. We think more time together will automatically solve so many problems for this roster, and with a weaker playing field overall, IEM Chengdu 2024 is an amazing opportunity for them to pick up silverware.

IEM Chengdu 2024 underdogs
There’s no sugar-coating it: at IEM Chengdu 2024, there’s a serious divide in quality. From the bottom half of our power rankings for the tournament, it’s hard to see any of the teams making a dent on the server. Still, we’ve got a couple of teams we want to discuss as the underdogs at IEM Chengdu 2024.
The first is Astralis. Their disasterclass at the PGL Major Copenhagen 2024 RMR led to the instant benching of blameF, the subsequent purchase of br0 from Monte, and the promotion of dev1ce to IGL. If it works, it could look like a stroke of genius. If it doesn’t, Astralis could be in for a very short trip to China. Either way, we’re here to see if Astralis can give us a surprise underdog run at IEM Chengdu 2024.

We also want to point out FlyQuest. The former Grayhound roster has managed to stay together, finding themselves an organization with the cash to invest in Australian Counter-Strike. There’s a lot of potential here, especially with dexter calling the shots as IGL. IEM Chengdu 2024 is a good opportunity for this roster to bounce back from their RMR failure with a strong performance.
