New Tarkov Patch Introduces Major Changes

By James Landale

Gamer News

Today, Battlestate Games has released a major Escape from Tarkov patch – 0.14.5.0. This sizeable update brings with it some substantial changes that’ll alter how the game operates in terms of ‘seasons’. Going forward, there will be a seasonal structure that changes the face of the game based on our real-world calendar. In the next update, we’ll see ‘early spring’ drop, but before long, we’ll transition through summer, autumn, and eventually, winter.

These changes will alter how the game looks, sounds, and how the weather behaves. That means that we can expect gleaming sunshine in the summer months, but the winter months will be frigid and snow-filled. That’s not all, though – this latest Tarkov patch from Battlestate Games offers considerable alterations across the board.

The BTR (APC) that was introduced by Battlestate Games last year has been confined to Streets of Tarkov – until now. With this latest update, the BTR-82A will roam Woods, stopping off at various landmarks and offering key services to players, such as the ‘remote stash’ and armoured taxi options. To accommodate the rural map, Battlestate Games has tweaked the BTR’s suspension, so it behaves more realistically in the environment.

Ground Zero has also undergone massive changes in the latest Tarkov patch. Battlestate Games has ‘split’ the map’s matchmaking system, allowing for two variants of the map to co-exist. For ‘experienced players’ – anyone over LL20 – there’s a ‘tougher’ version of the map that includes the following:

  • Tougher Scav enemies
  • Rare loot spawns
  • Airdrops
  • Boss: Kollontay

Further, Ground Zero is now included in the following quests:

  • A Shooter Born in Heaven
  • The Guide
  • Peacekeeping Mission
  • The Survivalist Path – Eagle Owl
  • Escort
  • Slaughterhouse
  • Information Source

That doesn’t make things easier for players looking to tick these extremely challenging boxes, but people don’t play Escape from Tarkov for an easy day at the range.

General Changes

As well as these major changes, there are plenty of minor alternations that have been applied to the game in the latest Tarkov patch. Battlestate Games has adjusted the in-game audio system and tweaked the UI a substantial amount, adding quality-of-life features and fixing bugs across the board. There’s a full list of the changes made to Tarkov in the latest patch notes published on the game’s blog page.
