There’s an all-new demo available now for Stellar Blade, which is the most highly anticipated PlayStation 5 exclusive right now. It’s due to drop on April 26, bringing players a white-hot, intense post-apocalyptic experience that fuses slick visuals with buttery-smooth, visceral combat. It has been in the news constantly in recent months because of the developer’s portrayal of the main character, a female known as Eve.
Shift Up, the South Korean developer, has made it widely known that they put a lot of time and effort into making Eve ‘a character that players will love to look at’. There’s a huge focus in Stellar Blade on the visuals, and that includes cosmetics that the player can equip to alter the appearance of Eve and her companions. Despite the soft controversy surrounding the seeming objectification of the character, Stellar Blade is winning hearts and minds because it’s genuinely a top-tier title with some impressive mechanics.
Play Stellar Blade Now
If you’re a PlayStation 5 player, you can get your hands on a fair portion of Stellar Blade now. There’s a new demo that has hit the store that gives players a taste of what to expect when the full game is released on April 26. This includes exploration elements that take the player around Eidos-7, the game’s semi-open-world environment. There’s a tasty boss fight thrown into the mix as well, giving you a fair glimpse at the challenging but satisfying combat mechanics in Stellar Blade.
Fortunately, any progress made during the demo will roll over into the main game – if you want it that way, that is.
At first blush, Stellar Blade looks like a Soulsborne game with more glitzy, fashionable elements – but the developer has stressed that isn’t the case. Multiple difficulty settings can be tweaked to allow for a more accessible experience, and while there’s a challenge at all levels, it can be ‘made easier’ for the players who aren’t interested in being pushed to the limit by the game. It’s a great formula on the surface, and prospective fans are already pushing past the ‘eye candy’ character to the depth underneath.
Stellar Blade will be released exclusively on PlayStation 5 on April 26 – the demo is available digitally now.
