The biggest fighting game release of 2023 has just gotten one of its first big updates. The Tekken 8 update patch notes are here! Quite a few things have changed. Although, at this early stage it’s more about bug fixes than totally reworking gameplay. What’s new in the Tekken 8 Patch 1.02.01?The new Tekken 8 patch has made some key fixes. If you’ve been grinding with one of the most popular Tekken 8 characters (or least), there could be some important alterations to keep an eye on. This is what’s been altered with the patch notes this time.
Tekken 8 Patch Notes
Tekken 8 1.03.01 Update
The latest Tekken update is here, a new batch of content for players to get through. The big takeaway from the latest Tekken 8 patch notes is a new playable character! Eddy Gordo has been released, as another DLC addition to the game. However, it also means we’ve had some changes to monetization.
The game has had a Tekken 8 Fighters Pass added. This is essentially a Tekken version of a Battle Pass. We’ve seen these kinds of features pop up in a few titles, like Street Fighter 6. It’s always a bit controversial with games that haven’t had them before though. So, what’s the major change with this Tekken 8 update? There’s now a pass which players can go through. It contains different items which you can unlock, some for doing missions but others from purchasing a version of the pass.
Some players aren’t happy about the increased monetization. Although, this does mean a lot more content coming. Especially to those who want to buy the premium version of the fighters pass.
Balancing Changes
Outside of the other changes in the Tekken 8 patch notes, we’ve had some alterations to how the Tekken 8 characters perform. There are some characters who has been taken down quite a bit like Dargunov. Others have had some major buffs though, like Panda getting stepped up a bit.
These changes ae slightly more mild alterations, since we’re the midst of tournaments for Tekken 8. Particularly with Evo Japan on the horizon. However, once these are wrapped up we’ll likely see some bigger changes coming in future Tekken 8 patch notes.
Patch 1.02.02
A new Tekken 8 update is here, the V1.02.01 patch. This isn’t a huge update with a brand-new fighter. Unfortunately, the game is still a bit too recent to be receiving really big content updates. We’re still going through the initial phase for the title as players figure out how everything works. That’s changing with the new Tekken 8 patch notes though. The game is getting quite a few alterations with the latest update, mainly adding new quality-of-life features.
One of the biggest changes in the recent update is a shop is coming. This has been controversial for some players but it’ll allow a greater variety of cosmetics in the game. There’s also been some fun updates to the game’s balance.
A few broken moves have been fixed here, like a heat combo. These aren’t balancing changes that are going to alter how the game plays for everyone. It’s more about fixing moves that were working in unintended ways.
Ranked Changes in V1.02.01
The other major change in this update is to Ranked. Players will get a punishment if they’ve cheated in Ranked. Players using unscrupulous tactics in the game will now get their leaderboard position erased entirely. Their Tekken rank will be reset back to beginner.
This is definitely a harsh way of treating it, but it’s probably fair for those cheating. It should eliminate the motivation to try and cheat your way up. That this wasn’t already active before these Tekken 8 patch notes is a bit surprising though.
Tekken 8 Patch 1.01.04
The newest Tekken 8 update notes is the patch 1.01.04! It’s not a sizeable content update, so the numerical notation is just getting longer and longer. What’s actually different in this new patch, though? Now that the Tekken server maintenance is over, there are just a few key areas that have been reworked.
Balancing Changes
- Special Style – Start up delay fixed
- Balcony Break – Collision detection problem changes

- Lili – Collision fixed
- Raven – Recovery frames adjusted

Those are the changes in the Tekken 8 1.0.1.04 patch notes for individual characters. There haven’t been that many this time. Most moves have had minor frames adjusted. However, if you’re maining these Tekken characters, you’ll want to know if a move feels a bit off.
Those are the major changes we’ve seen so far in Tekken 8 update patch notes. The game hasn’t received too much in the way of brand-new content yet. We’re still pretty early in its life, even after the Tekken 8 new patch. We’ll likely start seeing bigger balancing changes and new content once the game has been out a bit longer. It’ll be interesting to see if any of these bug fixes affect the early fighting game esports for the game too.
